wood slabs and the butterfly joint

Off The Saw

Working with slabs is a fun challenge in the woodshop and leads to beautiful results. Offerman Woodshop member Josh Salsbury is king of the slab table and will teach students everything they need to know to get from a rough slab to a fine finished piece during a two-day workshop on Saturday, April 23 & Sunday, April 24.

He’ll cover flattening, edge treatment, use of epoxy to fill voids, the much beloved butterfly joint, sanding and finishing, and attaching legs. Each student will make and keep a piece that can be used as a stool or side table.
