ECHO PARK —  One day after the City Council finalized changing the name of Elysian Park Avenue to Vin Scully Avenue,  a new welcome sign outside Dodger Stadium reflects the name change and new address: 1000 Vin Scully Avenue. The other businesses and residents of Elysian Park Avenue will also have to change their addresses as well.

A ceremony to dedicate Vin Scully Avenue  in honor of the team’s legendary play-by-play announcer is scheduled to be held on Monday, April 11, one day before the Dodger season opener.

  1. Shameless, how long ago was that made Gil?

  2. Monday at the ceremony is the perfect day to protest the name change, and start the “RECALL GIL CEDILLO” Petition.

  3. If they are going to recall Councilman Krekorian CD2 …..Lets add CD1 Cedillo to the list.
Yes Gil. It can happen to you too.

    • I hope so! Is there a petition? It will need like 18,000 signatures, but mine will be one of them! The community was not considered in this very bad decision to take away a historic name and replace it with a sports figure.

  4. Who is Vin Scully?

  5. Hmmm. Seems the decision was already made before the vote since the sign was already constructed.
    So corrupt.

  6. Gil Cedillo is the worst councilman. He has done nothing for the community, so why would he represent the community in regards to this matter? I can’t wait until we get a new council member who truly knows and understand this community, not like the Sacramento fly-in we currently have!

    • Gil Cedillo is a hero. He stood up to the bike Nazis who wanted to give Figueroa a road diet. I love how you and all the other butt-hurt bike dicks use every possible opportunity to bash Cedillo on the Eastsider.

  7. Anyone know how to make Recall Cedillo picket signs?
Prefect time to protest and display at the ceremony for the new street name and opening day.

    Organize and protest…IT WORKS

  8. Tony the Main Spoon

I drive by this every day now? Love it! Vin is a living legend (just check his greatest moments in YouTube) to raise barbs at a weasel council man in the face if Vins achievements is a mistake. This town is a baseball town, accept it.

    Go Dodgers!

    We love you Vin Scully!

    We miss you Nancy Bea!

  9. Are you upset at the city councilman or where you really so attached to the name of a tiny stretch of road. Vin Scully is probably the least offensive person in LA– a genuinely good human being– and the Dodgers are the team of our city. Change isn’t always evil, and it’s a nice sentiment to a really good man who loves this city.
