Eagle Rock’s “Pillarhenge” finds a buyer

pillarhenge
EAGLE ROCK –– After sitting abandoned for about a decade, the failed real estate development and eyesore known as “Pillarhenge” has been purchased for $1.9 million, according to PropertyShark.com.

The block-long strip of  Colorado Boulevard marked by a row of concrete columns has been on the market for several years as neighborhood groups and city officials have launched numerous attempts to clean up the unfinished concrete site.  A 17-unit live-work development, known as the DHM Lofts,  had once been planned for the site but had been abandoned by 2008.  Last year, the Boulevard Sentinel had a story about The Friends of Pillarhenge, a group focused on the property.

News of the sale popped up late last month in The Eagle Rock Association newsletter, with President Bob Gotham noting that “the shadow of Pillarhenge …. has hung too long over Eagle Rock.”

The property was purchased at the end of February by Beverly Drive Holdings LCC of Laguna Hills, according to PropertyShark.com. No further details were available.

What is going to happen to Pillarhenge and that pink bird roosting on one of its columns? Stay tuned.

  1. Woot! Everyone’s anxiously waiting to see what will become of that spot, but it can only be an improvement.

With Found, Craft Beer Cellar, and the new after school place called The Lab on the corner of Colorado and Eagle Vista, that whole side of town is getting so much nicer, and rapidly.

Ironically, the city (thanks to Councilman Jose Huizar) just put in a brand new sidewalk in front of Pillerhenge… just in time for the sale.
