Crash in Elysian Valley area kills motorcyclist

A  33-year-old motorcyclist was killed early Friday morning after crashing into a tree on Riverside Drive in the Elysian Valley area.

The LAPD said the eastbound driver of a 1995 motorcycle ran off Riverside Drive near Allesandro Street and crashed into a tree at around 2:40 a.m. Friday morning. No other vehicles were involved.

The motorcyclist was identified as as Christopher Mark Garcia of Los Angeles, according to the county coroner. He was pronounced dead at the scene

A funeral fund for Garcia has been set up Go Fund Me. He is survived by his wife Scarlett.

About 25 people held a candlelight vigil for Garcia on Sunday night near the scene of the crash.
