Highland Park shooting prompts evacuations [updated]


HIGHLAND PARK ––  Police have ordered some evacuations tonight after shots were fired in the 200 block of S. Avenue 64, said LAPD spokesman Drake Madison.

It’s not clear if anyone has been hit, and the situation remains “very fluid,” he said.

Update @ 11: 45 p.m.: Police apprehended a man who had fired some rounds from a rifle into the air, said Sgt. Doug Bowler with the LAPD Northeast Division. After firing the rifle, the man went into a residence. After being contacted by police, the man came out and was taken into custody. No persons were shot or injured.
