Montecito Heights playground gets a colorful makeover

New Montecito Heights playground

MONTECITO HEIGHTS — City officials will gather tomorrow at the Montecito Heights Recreation Center to show off the latest thing in playgrounds.

The renovated playground features towers and equipment topped with colorful, translucent panels that double as outdoor art. It’s the first playground in the city, according to a press release issued by Council District 1, to use these elements to promote “active and imaginative play” with light and color.

Councilman Gil Cedillo, community leaders and other officials are scheduled to dedicate the new playground and the park’s Summer Night Lights program at 6 pm on Thursday, June. 30.

  1. Remember when there was a holistic community outreach and design effort to asses needs in the community and arrive at the construction of this playground, in this style?

    Because I don’t.

More Cedillo indifference/apathy and press release politics.
