Pickup truck crashes into Eagle Rock coffee shop

EAGLE ROCK — The owners of Cindy’s Coffee Shop said they plan to reopen as soon as possible after a pickup truck crashed into the Colorado Boulevard restaurant this weekend. The restaurant was closed at the time and no one was injured, but photos showed extensive damage to the front of the coffee shop.

The restaurant reported the crash on Saturday morning on its social media accounts. “Well it seems a gentleman in a pick up truck decided to park his car inside our restaurant last night,” said a posting on the restaurant’s Instagram. “Luckily we [were] closed at the time and no one was hurt. With that we will be closed for the time being until we can get all fixed up.”

After purchasing the restaurant in 2014, Monique King and Paul Rosenbluh restored the interior and later launched a public fundraiser to repair the 1948 sign that stands in the parking lot.

A posting on Twitter said the restaurant would be closed for several weeks to complete repairs. The Eastsider has contacted the restaurant for more details.

  1. Hasn’t this happened to that same (awesome) diner before? Anyone remember that?

    • Haff-Foods-Fanny

Some drunk a few months ago crashed into a coffee shop on York and then drove off. Lots of alcoholic pick up truck drivers in our neighborhood, you know, the ones picking up a 24 case every Sunday from the Super A.

    • @Charlie: I believe you are correct. It happened a few years back, before Paul took ownership, IIRC.

There are a lot of cars crashing in to buildings. It happened to Pete’s hamburger joint down the street from Cindy’s twice, and to Swork (also twice IIRC), and of course to Pizza Buona.

  2. According to a blog post on LA1news Cindy’s was hit in 2007 just two days after another place on Colorado was smashed by a motorist.

  3. We love you Cindy’s and wish you a speedy recovery.

  4. Bruce Brook Pfeiffer

Thank goodness Justin Timberlake (or anyone else for that matter) wasn’t sitting in his booth at the time.
