A peek inside William Pereira-designed offices threatened with demolition; developer planning 18 townhomes for Echo Park

  • A tour of  a Mid-Century office complex designed by William Pereira showed that some of the original details remain intact but “others have been eliminated entirely, including the sunscreens and a stately pedestrian bridge.”  Preservationists are trying to save the Sunset Boulevard property next to Echo Park from demolition.   • A developer wants to carve up property in the 1800 block of Glendale Boulevard in Echo Park to accommodate 18 townhomes under the city’s small-lot ordinance. Permits for this project, which has been in the works for several years, show that the homes would be three stories high and include two-car garages and roof decks. Planning Department

  1. The city needs to seriously address the horrendous traffic conditions in that stretch of Glendale Blvd. Commute times are brutal.
