  • Yonatan Aguilar, the 11-year-old who was found dead in a closet in Echo Park, and his family had been the subject of six investigations by child welfare authorities. But those reports, which involved interviews of doctors, a hospital social worker, a school counselor, teachers, a therapist, a school coach as well as police, did not indicate Aguilar was living in a dangerous environment, the head of the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services said during a press conference. Four of the reports conducted between 2009 and 2012 focused on Yonatan; two reports in 2002 involved his siblings.  The victim’s mother, Veronica Aguilar, has been charged with murder and child abuse resulting in death.   • A thief broke who into a car belonging to an employee of the L.A. County-USC Medical Center in Boyle Heights stole the files of more than 700 patients. It’s not clear what the files, which contained personal information, were doing in the employee’s vehicle. L.A. Now
  • Water was sent gushing about 200 feet into the air early this morning after a hit-and-run driver struck a fire hydrant in the 3600 block of Monterey Road in El Sereno. ABC 7
