  • An Echo Park woman was charged with murder and child abuse resulting in the death of her son. Veronica Aguilar, 39, made a brief court appearance on Thursday and is being held on $2 million bail. Her son, 11-year-old Yonatan Daniel Aguilar, was found dead in a closet, and his body showed signs of physical abuse and malnutrition, officials said. L.A. Now
  • Three alleged burglars being chased by Glendale police crashed their vehicle on the 2 Freeway near York Boulevard and then ran across traffic lanes and into the Eagle Rock area. The three suspects were apprehended, including one caught in a backyard. News-Press
  • A gang member  plead guilty to a 2008 Cypress Park murder in which he gunned down a man holding a toddler. Jose Angel Gomez, 27, also pleaded guilty to strangling his cellmate to death three years after the Cypress Park killing. Gomez is scheduled to be sentenced to serve two life sentences without the possibility of parole. Daily News
