Officer-involved shooting leaves one dead in Boyle Heights [updated]

BOYLE HEIGHTS — An officer-involved shooting took place early this evening near Cesar Chavez Avenue and Breed Street. It was the second officer-involved shooting of the day for the LAPD.

An LAPD spokeswoman said the shooting happened at about 5:50 p.m. but had no further details.

In a separate incident early this morning,  a traffic stop led to an officer-involved shooting on the border of Highland Park and Eagle Rock.

Update: L.A. Now reports that police fatally shot a man who was armed with a gun during a foot chase. A photo posted on Twitter appears to show the body of a male on the sidewalk near the Breed Street Shul.

  1. He was engaging in gang vandalism and when police chased him he pulled out a gun and shot at them. It’s certainly s senseless death but not very shocking or unpredictable. A family member was quoted saying “Yeah he was in the gangs and everything but he was a good kid,”
What will it take for these people to learn that being in a gang isn’t just some fun right of passage but an unacceptable waste of time that leads in death and ruined lives?
