Police arrest juvenile after Eagle Rock chase and crash

EAGLE ROCK — A short police pursuit through the streets of Eagle Rock  early this morning ended with a juvenile suspect crashing his vehicle and then fleeing on foot.

At about 1:30 a.m., police patrolling the area saw a vehicle speeding and making several traffic violations, said Sgt. Campos with LAPD’s Northeast Division.

Officers pursued the vehicle for about a mile before the suspect crashed into a parked car near Yosemite Drive and Ellenwood Drive. The suspect then exited the vehicle and fled on foot, said Campos.

Police set up a perimeter and conducted a K-9 search that led to a backyard, where the juvenile surrendered without incident.

The suspect was taken to a hospital to be treated for minor injuries he sustained in the crash, said Campos. The juvenile has been released from the hospital and is now in custody.
