Police search for shooting suspect near Eagle Rock High [updated]

EAGLE ROCK — Police sealed off streets near Eagle Rock High School early this morning as officers searched for a shooting suspect, according to media reports.

CBS2 reports the suspect left his vehicle in front of the school after a pursuit by officers that began in Lincoln Heights.

The high school remained opened, with students entering the campus from Yosemite and Highland and other locations, the L.A. School Police Department said on Twitter.  Officers have inspected the school and determined that it is safe, said CBS 2.

One resident  said the search began about 3 a.m. Yosemite Drive is blocked.

Update @ 11:27 am: CBS 2 reports that the suspect got away.

Update @ 9:10 a.m: Sgt. Cortez at the LAPD Northeast Division said  the perimeter set up to capture the suspect is currently being broken down. However, he was not able to say whether the suspect was in custody.
