  • A woman was killed Monday night after she was struck by a Metrolink train at the Doran Street crossing on the border of Glendale and Atwater Village. ABC 7
  • A female pedestrian in Echo Park was hit by a vehicle at around 8 p.m. near Glendale Boulevard and Berkeley Street, according to reports from Eastsider readers. The woman was seen being transported away in an ambulance.  No details about the incident were available this morning from the LAPD Central Traffic Division.
  • Mosquitos with West Nile Virus were found in Lincoln Heights for the first time this year. Officials recommend residents use insect repellent outdoors and report mosquito problems and pools and fountains with standing water. GLACVCD
  • A public hearing will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 10, over a proposal to install cell phone towers atop an apartment building in the 1600 block of Echo Park Avenue. The towers would exceed the 45-foot height limit now in place.  Planning Department
  • The family of a man who was fatally shot on an East Los Angeles street nearly two years ago continue to wait for the shooter to be apprehended. ABC 7
