Frogtown’s LA River Boat Race Targets Beginners, Youth, Multisport Athletes in 2016

The 3rd Annual LA River Boat Race is coming to the Glendale Narrows Sept. 17, 2016. It’s a race, but a fun one. Everyone will be a winner. We promise.

Cost for beginner paddlers is “pay what you can.” Safety equipment and kayaks are provided. Fun is the operative word, with costumes more than allowed. And our new multi-sport relay — mixing paddling, biking and running — encourages teamwork! SUPs welcome.

Event organizers have been running trips down the LA River’s Glendale Narrows since 2013. We know how to make this a safe and enjoyable experience. We want to offer nearby residents a new way to enjoy the river and its recreational and educational potential. That’s even if you don’t own a boat or have access to one.

Don’t miss this unique urban paddling experience now in its third year. Special this year, all racers get exclusive invites to our Awards Ceremony/Preview Tasting at the soon-to-open Frogtown Brewery. Look for more surprises too.

Organized under a permit from the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority, any proceeds from the race benefit the education and recreation programs of non-profit LA River Expeditions.

Got a question? Want to volunteer, be a sponsor or have an educational table at the event? Email us at [email protected]. Or click here to find out more about the different race courses and how to register.

And, of course, enjoy the attached images from previous events.
