Looking for a tuna sandwich with no crust in Angeleno Heights? You must be a ‘Fast and Furious’ fan

ANGELENO HEIGHTS — Some people come to L.A. to look at old movie sets. But Josh Fruhlinger accidentally found himself living smack dab in the middle of one.

Less than two years after moving here from the East Coast, Josh Fruhlinger landed in the section of Angeleno Heights featured in The Fast and the Furious. Fruhlinger, a freelance humorist, writes about it in MEL Magazine, looking at the Fast and Furious fans who tour the neighborhood.

He started noticing something odd after he first moved into the neighborhood and googled the local store a block from his house — Bob’s Market at Bellevue Ave and E. Kensington Road. One review after another kept talking about ordering a tuna sandwich — with no crust.

It turns out Bob’s was the location for Toretto’s Market in the movie — notably, the scene in which Paul Walker’s character, Brian, has a tuna sandwich with no crust, and first meets Vin Diesel’s character, Dom.

Yelp reviews for Bob’s Market are favorable — though several reviewers noted they could not actually find a tuna sandwich.

More in Mel magazine.

I like the tuna here.

  1. Wow! My grandmother used to live across the street from Bob’s Market back in the early 60s. It hasn’t changed at all!
