  • A Silver Lake billboard that says “Donald Trump Makes Me Wanna Smoke Crack” was inspired from the title of a song written by a Los Feliz musician. L.A. Weekly
  • Police posted surveillance pictures of a man and a woman suspected of stealing $6,000 from a 92-year-old woman after conning their way into her home. The Eastsider
  • Way more properties along the L.A. River are at risk of flooding than previously thought, according The Army Corps of Engineers. So more property owners – especially in Atwater Village and Elysian Valley – will have to buy mandatory flood insurance, and developers might have to build the first floors of buildings several feet above the ground.   • The L.A. school board voted against renewing the charter of L.A. Celerity Troika Charter School in Eagle Rock and four other schools over governance and management issues. KPCC

  • The Echo Park Lake Boathouse is getting a new cafe – with Curate Cafe replacing Square One at the Boathouse – after profit-sharing negotiations with the current restaurant broke down. The Eastsider
  • City Council meetings were canceled Wednesday and Friday because not enough members were available for a quorum. Four council members were on a European tour organized by a high-tech firm; 4th District Councilman David Ryu was in South Korea for his father’s funeral; and one seat, the Seventh District, has been vacant since last month.
