ECHO PARK — The man who was shot dead Monday night near Mohawk and Montana streets has been identified as 36-year-old William Perea, said Detective Andrew St. Pierre with the LAPD Northeast Division.
Perea was shot at about 9:30 p.m., with residents saying they heard multiple shots fired.
There have been reports that police have been searching for two male suspects, but St. Pierre couldn’t confirm that information. Northeast Division Capt. Arturo Sandoval said no suspects were in custody as of late Tuesday afternoon.
The shooting took place in an area with gang activity. But so far there is no indication that the shooting was gang related, St. Pierre said.
