Two women stabbed in Echo Park bar

ECHO PARK — Two women were stabbed inside the Gold Room bar on Sunset Boulevard early this morning, according to police and media reports. The suspect was taken into custody after he returned to the bar with the knife in hand, police said.

The incident took place at about 1:30 a.m. when the man approached two women and stabbed one of the females inside a bar in the 1500 block of Sunset, said Officer Aareon Jefferson with LAPD Media Relations. The suspect then chased the second female before stabbing her.  The victims, who did not know the suspect, sustained injuries that were not life threatening, Jefferson said.

The LAPD did not provide the name of the bar but reports on CBS2 identified it as the Gold Room.

It was the second weekend in a row that police responded to trouble in Echo Park’s late-night bar scene. Last Sunday, police shot and wounded a man who flashed a gun during an early morning fight outside the Short Stop bar, which is two blocks away from the Gold Room.

  1. The victims are going to sue the pants off the owners of the Gold Room and win. Its unconscionable that they let a patron bring a knife inside.

    • @dave: True that! I do hope they consider it at least.

    • What do you want them to do pat downs now?

      • Don’t let the relatively newly arrived hipster sheen fool you. I’ve lived in the area for fifteen years and that place has always been sketchy as fuck. It’s no El Chubasco but it’s also not the sort of place I’d recommend for unaccompanied females.

I remember about five years ago, my buddy and I took dates there and found them surrounded by nasty looking cholos when we exited the bathroom. We literally had to peel the dudes away from the girls, with the guys mad mugging us and making threats the whole time. Not the most comfortable way to spend a friday cocktail hour.

      • They do pat downs there now. Apparently, they missed this one which is easy to do with wcold weather wear and boots.

      • The Gold Room do pat down every night. You all would know if you had a beverage there. Also, they have not served free tacos in over two years. A great place to hang out and catch games.

  2. I carry a pocket knife everywhere I go. Even I was surprised they did pat downs. I just stuffed mine in my shoe. But I wasn’t trying to stab anyone. It’s a og locals place and try don’t take too kindly to the hipsters that have overrun their neighbourhood

  3. We have a right to live wherever the hell we want and without being violently attacked for nothing more than paying rent and actually contributing something non-violent to the area. Time for you to leave Gold Room.

  4. And what kind of little gang punk goes after two women? Typical.

  5. Meh. Moved here in ’87. So many changes, some good, some not so good. Gold Room always questionable for single women to hang out. But if new EP transplants from Daddy’s Westside condo hipsters Buffy and Simon are really lookin for that ‘authentic gangbang Eastside ‘ experience, guess they found it. Stay at the Echoplex, kiddies

  6. Hey hipster females can’t hold their liquior, they get verbally nasty with the men of color that go drink there. THOSE females start to flirt, rub up on guys, they care less if theres a girlfriend in tow. Bottom line, DONT START NO S___! WON’T BE NO S____!.

  7. the goldroom special is a pabst blue ribbon and a shot of tequila, it doesnt take a genius to figure out the meaning of that symbolic gesture. that bar is absolutely a great place to hang out and grab a drink which is why they have lines out the door virtually everynight

  8. Bull shit. I’m a single female. Never had a problem. Punk ass bitches. Handle your shit. Been coming here for a decade. Grow a pair.

  9. Maybe it was a hipster that stabbed two Cholas? No description of either suspect or Victims.
