ECHO PARK — Two women were stabbed inside the Gold Room bar on Sunset Boulevard early this morning, according to police and media reports. The suspect was taken into custody after he returned to the bar with the knife in hand, police said.
The incident took place at about 1:30 a.m. when the man approached two women and stabbed one of the females inside a bar in the 1500 block of Sunset, said Officer Aareon Jefferson with LAPD Media Relations. The suspect then chased the second female before stabbing her. The victims, who did not know the suspect, sustained injuries that were not life threatening, Jefferson said.
The LAPD did not provide the name of the bar but reports on CBS2 identified it as the Gold Room.
It was the second weekend in a row that police responded to trouble in Echo Park’s late-night bar scene. Last Sunday, police shot and wounded a man who flashed a gun during an early morning fight outside the Short Stop bar, which is two blocks away from the Gold Room.
