Big Glassell Park apartment project in the works

GLASSELL PARK — A big apartment developer is planning to build a large residential project on San Fernando Road near the Super King market.

Fairfield Residential has filed an application with the Planning Department for a 370-unit multifamily project on a large parcel, now occupied industrial and warehouse buildings, next to the 2 Freeway.  Thirty one of the units would be set aside for tenants with very low incomes, which would allow the developer to build a project that is more dense than typically allowed.

The project would rise just north of where another developer wants to build about 400 residential units next to the Los Angeles River.

Fairfield Residential has built more than 800 apartment complexes with about 233,000 units over the past 30 years, according to its website. The Eastsider has contacted Fairfield for more details about the Glassell Park project.

  2. Great news. Lets replace all of the grotty looking warehouses with residential dwellings, bring it on.

  3. Does everything needs to be a low income kinda thing?!
