On Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 11:00 am, the annual Echo Park Community Parade will make its way along Sunset Boulevard between Vin Scully Avenue and Park Avenue. Thousands of residents from Echo Park and surrounding neighborhoods sit along Sunset Boulevard to welcome Santa Claus and celebrate the holiday season with over 50 parade entries.

Each year the parade features a theme that explores the neighborhood of Echo Park and helps inspire ideas for the artwork contest as well as parade floats. This year’s theme is “Celebrating the Artists of Echo Park.” The Grand Marshal and Parade Ambassadors nominated and chosen this year with that theme in mind.

The 2016 Grand Marshal is the Los Angeles Theatre Academy, a multi-lingual organization that provides theatrical education for children and adults onstage and behind the scenes.

Parade ambassadors include Martin Cox, a long-time Echo Park resident and photographer, Mary-Austin Klein, also a long-time resident and celebrated painter, and Katrina Alexy, a local artist and creator of the Healthy Foods mural on Logan Street.
