  • One man died after being shot by L.A. County Sheriff’s deputies early this morning in the 900 block of La Verne Avenue in East Los Angeles.  Deputies were dispatched to the scene in response to a 911 call of a shooting and gunshot victim at the location, where they encountered a man armed with a shotgun, according to an LASD announcement. The deputies opened fire on the man, who was struck and later died after being taken to a hospital. A shotgun was recovered at the scene and investigators are trying to determine if a shooting had taken place before deputies arrived.  LASD
