East Hollywood’s Cahuenga Library – one of the few remaining L.A. libraries built with an endowment from Andrew Carnegie – celebrates its 100th anniversary. In Montecito Heights, three historic homes at Heritage Square show how the holidays were celebrated through the decades: a 1892 Victorian Thanksgiving, a 1915 Christmas gathering and a 1945 New Year’s Eve party. And if it’s not too early for Christmas, the 72nd NELA Christmas Parade (the second-oldest in L.A.) gets rolling in Highland Park.
