SILVER LAKE — Anyone know the background of this colorful shrine in the 1800 block of Redesdale Avenue? Tucked into the hillside right off the the street, the shrine has been there in some form since 2011 based on Google Street view images but seems to have grown more elaborate in the past year.

“No one seems to know who’s doing it, but it’s quite lovely!” said Sandy Driscoll who sent in a photo. After some vandalism earlier this year, “it’s nice to see that people are now respectful and leaving it intact.”

  1. I heard it was elves.

  2. An old Mexican couple that used to live there built it but has long been kicked out by gentrification. That should be destroyed soon and an espresso maker put in its place with vegan donuts
