  • Police conducted two separate searches for suspects in Echo Park on Friday. During the first search, police closed off streets near Glendale Boulevard and Laveta Terrace on Friday afternoon as they were looking for a stolen vehicle suspect. A possible suspect was apprehended. On Friday night at about 10 p.m., police began the second search, this time for an armed parolee who fled gang officers west of Echo Park Lake near Santa Ynez Street. The suspect was apprehended and a gun recovered, said Sgt. Dave Armis with the LAPD Northeast Division.

  1. Thank you LAPD for finding and arresting the armed man in Echo Park last night. Their helicopters were right overhead for over an hour above our neighborhood and although very loud, I’m quite sure that their searchlight beams and other resources were of great help to those on the ground searching.

    I wonder why the man was on parole. I believe our current justice system is generally too lenient on law breakers, allowing them to commit crimes over and over. Obviously, being on parole meant nothing to this man who was reportedly armed.
