  • Jonathan Sanchez, associate publisher and chief operating officer of Eastern Group Publications/EGP News, died of cancer on Dec. 23 at his Highland Park home. His wife, Dolores Sanchez, is publisher of the company’s 11 bilingual, community newspapers that cover an area stretching from Southeast to Northeast Los Angeles. EGP News
  • The signs of the Acapulco Mexican Restaurant in Los Feliz have been removed, and Yelp! reviewers say the Sunset Boulevard restaurant has closed, according to Eater L.A. The chain closed its Atwater Village restaurant in 2013.
  • Most of the eastbound 60 Freeway was shut down early this morning after a big rig crashed near Lorena Street in Boyle Heights. Daily News
