CYPRESS PARK — Police are searching for three suspects involved in the fatal stabbing of a man during a fight early this morning in what may have been the city’s first homicide of the year.
Christian Nino, 22, died after being stabbed once during the altercation that was reported shortly after 2 am in the 2600 block of Jefferies Avenue, said Sgt. James Zboravan with the LAPD Northeast Division. The suspects, described as male Latinos between 18- to 20-years of age, were seen running north on Jeffries and then eastbound on Avenue 28, according to police. They remain at large.
Zboravan said he was not aware of any other homicides that took place in the Northeast Division. A check of news reports this afternoon also turned up no other reports murders in the City of Los Angeles. The Cypress Park homicide comes after the city saw murders rise in 2016 for the third year in a row.
