BOYLE HEIGHTS — A plan to improve pedestrian safety in the Aliso Village sector of Boyle Heights is one of seven city-wide projects that will share $2 million in city funds awarded through the Great Street Challenge as part of the Mayor’s Great Streets Initiative.
Winners of the challenge announced this month include Proyecto Pastoral’s Comunidad en Movimiento, an ongoing program to improve safety conditions for residents near the high traffic corridors of Fourth Street between Gless and Clarence Streets and First Street between Mission Road and Gless. Proyecto Pastoral plan includes “improving street crossings and signage and […] engaging residents to build a strong culture around safety,” according to the Great Street Challenge web page.
