  • Streets were blocked off and the LAPD bomb squad was called in on Sunday morning to inspect a suspicious item – a backpack – left outside the McDonald’s at Temple and Alvarado streets. No bomb – just some miscellaneous items – were found inside the backpack, said an LAPD spokeswoman. The incident was cleared by 2:30 p.m.
  • Metro reported another drop in ridership in 2016 as a nearly 9% decline in bus boardings offset a 4.4% rise in rail and subway ridership. Officials are trying to determine why bus ridership has continued to decline. L.A. Times
  • A man was sentenced to 13 years in prison for the unprovoked knife attack last September against a woman standing in line at a Whittier Boulevard taco stand in East Los Angeles. EGP News

  1. These bomb scares are getting ridiculous, people leave backpacks sitting around all the time in the big city, are we going to have to close off entire blocks every time that happens now? Just part of life in 2017 I guess…

  2. I live across from the mcdonalds and was trapped in my house for 4 hours while they looked for the bomb. There was a huge explosion. Any idea what that could have been?
