EAST HOLLYWOOD — A man was found dead in a Metro Red line subway tunnel this morning, apparently having been struck by a Union Station-bound subway train, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The body was found 1,800 feet south of the Vermont/Sunset Station just before 6 a.m. There were no injuries to the train operator or 40 passengers, who were all safely removed from the train.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released.

Train services were delayed during the course of the investigation, with trains in both directions running along one track, according to Deputy Sheriff Stephanie Jansen of the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department. Normal subway service resumed at around noon.
