The Silver Lake Boulevard onramp to the southbound 101 Freeway was shut down last night as officials investigated the death a person who lived in a homeless encampment, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Officials with the CHP and LAPD contacted this morning did not have information about how the person died or the age and sex of the deceased. CHP spokesman Peter Nicholson said the agency’s logs indicate that someone went to a nearby market to report a death in the encampment. He had no further details.
The CHP issued a SigAlert shortly before 11 pm warning that the onramp would be closed for about an hour due to “a medical emergency.”
The death took place about a week after a homeless encampment was cleaned up nearby in the Silver Lake Boulevard underpass at Temple Street.

I drove by there yesterday at around 2:50 and there were two cops there. I don’t think that they were moving anyone away.
