Possible road rage shooting in Silver Lake leaves man injured; bullet strikes restaurant window

SILVER LAKE — A man was shot in the arm early this morning and a bullet struck a window of the Astro Diner during what might have been a case of road rage, police said.

The victim was in a car waiting at the light near Glendale Boulevard and Fletcher Drive at about 1 a.m. when someone in an older white Honda Civic pulled up next to him and fired at his car, according to Sgt. Robert Alaniz of LAPD’s Northeast Division.

Police reports say the first bullet struck the victim in the arm. The second bullet hit the diner’s window. An Eastsider reader who was at the 24-hour diner reported seeing the victim walk into the restaurant, bleeding from his arm, after the shooting.

Police said the victim was taken to Glendale Memorial hospital, where he is in stable condition.

Alaniz said the shooting did not seem to be gang related – partly because the shooter didn’t call out a gang name.

  1. Didn’t know you had to shout a gang member name two beginning related LOL is this a joke?

    • Well, strictly speaking, if it’s credit you’re going for then you would want to yell out your gang’s name. Kind of like leaving your calling card but without the nice handwriting and fancy card stock.

  2. some people need to re-read articles before making comments

  3. Maybe the north east police division should’ve asked him what was he doing there in the first place!!!
