The Middle Ages never went out of style at this Echo Park school

ECHO PARK ––  After studying the Middle Ages, the fourth graders in Rick Powels class at Clifford Math & Technology Magnet recently dressed up in costume and celebrated with a Medieval feast.  But it turns out Powels’ students were not the first at Clifford to dress up like knights and ladies.  A few days after his students’ celebration, Powels came across an old photo (shown below) of Clifford students in Medieval garb that was taken more than 80 years ago.

The photo, which was posted on Flickr by Michael Locke, comes courtesy of Lisa Blakely, daughter of early Silver Lake resident Bud Overn.  The c. 1935 photo will soon be posted on the school’s website, Powels said.
