The shooting occurred at around 3 a.m. near the intersection of Fletcher Drive and Casitas Avenue, said Lt. Ryan Schatz with LAPD’s Northeast Division. The victim, a 21-year-old transient who lives in the L.A. River bed nearby, was on the street when he was approached by three men on foot. The suspects opened fire and struck the victim in the left shoulder.

The victim was taken to a hospital where he remains in stable condition, said Schatz. The suspects are believed to be gang members and are described to be in their 30s.

No suspects are in custody at this time, said Schatz. An investigation is underway.
