This Sunday’s Renovation Innovation Home Tour shines the spotlight on major makeovers, including an Echo Park home that was destroyed by fire and a bland Silver Lake duplex that now features dramatic angles and views.

The self-guided tour sponsored by deLab of five residences from Echo Park to Los Feliz reflect the work of local architects, including Bestor Architecture, as well as Mexico City-based Productura. The original homes range from bungalows to mid-century homes.

In Silver Lake, homeowner Tim Tattu, a music video set decorator turned monk, worked with architect Tom Marble to transform his duplex, which now features dramatic forms but also quiet spaces and alcoves intended for meditation.   But in Echo Park, GOOD magazine co-founder Casey Caplowe served as his own architect when he designed the replacement for the bungalow he lost in a fire.
