  • The LAPD said the man who was fatally shot by police in Boyle Heights on Saturday removed a gun from his waistband during a brief foot chase, reports Boyle Heights Beat. However, the update provided by police does not say whether the man who was killed, 36-year-old Fred Barragan, had fired or pointed his weapon at officers.  Barragan was sixth person fatally shot by police in Boyle Heights during the past 14 months.
  • The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Steely Dan and Journey are among the classic rock groups that will be playing at the ballpark on July 15 & 16 during a weekend concert called The Classic. The shows are part of an ongoing effort to bring more live music and other non-baseball events to the ballpark.
  • A Silver Lake resident who is preparing to move out of the neighborhood after 20 years is asking neighbors to contribute comments and photos to a farewell journal. Los Feliz Ledger
