One killed in Boyle Heights shooting

BOYLE HEIGHTS — Police are investigating the shooting death of a man in Boyle Heights early this morning morning.

At about 12:40 a.m., a witness heard gunshots outside of his home on the 3500 block of Lanfranco Street, said Officer Irma Mota with LAPD Media Relations. The witness called the police after he stepped outside and saw a man suffering from numerous gunshot wounds.

The victim, a 25-year-old Latino, died at the scene, said Mota.

There is currently no suspect description. ABC 7 reports that detectives are investigating the shooting as gang related which can make it hard to find witnesses that will speak up because of the intimidation gangs create.

Officers remain at the scene.
