Victim found dead in San Pasqual Park

HIGHLAND PARK — Police are searching for two suspects involved in a shooting that left one teen dead Wednesday night in San Pasqual Park.

Police were dispatched to the park near the 6700 block of Comet Street at about 9 p.m. to investigate calls of shots fired and an assault with a deadly weapon, said Sgt. Rudy Alaniz of LAPD’s Northeast Division.

Officers discovered the victim in the park with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim, who police believe is in his late teens, succumbed to his injuries shortly after paramedics arrived, said Alaniz.

Witnesses said two Latinos were seen running through the park at the time of the shooting, said Officer Liliana Preciado with LAPD media relations.

No suspects have been arrested, said Alaniz. The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Anyone with info regarding this crime is urged to call Northeast Division homicide detectives Burcher and Martinez at 323-561-3321 or via email at 31580@lapd.lacity.org. During off business hours or weekends calls should be directed to 1-877-LAPD-24-7.
