Public asked to help find suspect in attempted murder following visit to an Echo Park bar

ECHO PARK — Police are asking the public for help to find the man who attacked two others last December following a visit to the Gold Room bar.

There is security camera video of the victims and suspect having drinks in the Sunset Boulevard bar before the fight but police have been unable to make any arrests in the case. Here’s a rundown of the incident released this week by the  LAPD:

“On Thursday, December 29, 2016, between 1:50 a.m., and 2:00 a.m., the victims and suspects met inside the Gold Room Bar at 1558 W. Sunset Blvd. The victims and the suspect are observed having drinks together and are captured on the business’ security cameras. When the bar closed, the victims and the suspect all left at the same time. The victims and suspect engaged in a verbal dispute. The suspect struck Victim-2 on the side of the head, causing a laceration. Victim-1 tried to keep the peace after the physical altercation and went to talk to the suspect. The suspect then struck Victim-1 with the knife, cutting him on his neck and face. The suspect fled in a dark colored 4 door sedan.

The suspect is described as male Hispanic, brown hair, brown eyes, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing between 200 to 210 pounds, and is 25 to 30 years old. The suspect has a beard and multiple tattoos on his face, neck and head. He was last seen wearing a black jacket with gray pants.”

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact Officer Morales, Rampart Gang Detectives, at (213) 484-3660 or (213) 484-3655

The attempted murder case took place after two women sustained non-life threatening injuries after being  stabbed in the Gold Room in late October. The suspect in that case was apprehended when he returned to the bar.

  1. If they have video and want the public’s help they should release an image.

    • I was going to say the exact same thing. I don’t understand this post. Wouldn’t it make more sense to include the said footage to get our help? Maybe someone who was not at the bar would recognize him so it would reason to include a photo or the footage.

      • Hi. Police did not make any photos or surveillance videos available.

        • No video or photos released, only this descript:

“… male Hispanic, brown hair, brown eyes, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing between 200 to 210 pounds, and is 25 to 30 years old. The suspect has a beard and multiple tattoos on his face, neck and head. He was last seen wearing a black jacket with gray pants.”

GEE. YOU DON’T SEE MUCH OF THAT IN ECHO PARK.

Y’all TRYING to start a race riot, or fuel the already touchy gentrification war? What foolery this is if they won’t release images. Eye roll …

          • Hmmmm, don’t know what part of Echo Park you hang out in, but “multiple tattoos on his face, neck and head” would mean you’re clearly with the wrong crowd……..

  2. It would seem the police are receiving a less than ideal level of cooperation from the 2 victims in helping to identify and locate their acquaintance who attacked them outside of the Gold Room last December
