- Voters head to the polls on Tuesday, May 16 to decide whether incumbent Gil Cedillo or newcomer Joe Bray-Ali will represent Council District 1. - The city has received a $2 million grant to develop plans to turn a section of the former Taylor Yards railyard in Glassell Park into 41 acres of parkland and greenspace next to the L.A. River, reports Curbed L.A. The city purchased the property for nearly $60 million earlier this year as part of efforts to restore the river. But the entire cost of turning the property into parkland, including cleaning up toxic soil as well as the land purchase, could top $250 million.
- Council District 13 will host walking tours and present renderings today, Saturday, May 13, of a public pathway that would be created atop the South Dam of the Silver Lake Reservoir. The tour and open house at the adjacent Silver Lake Recreation Center will be held from 10 am to 2 pm.
