Glassell Park drive-by shooting leaves one injured at party; off-duty officer fires at suspects

GLASSELL PARK — An off-duty officer fired at the suspects of a drive-by shooting early this morning after they fired several rounds into a family party, striking one man in the leg.

The suspects pulled up to the party at about 2 a.m., near Cazador Drive and Avenue 33, and started firing several rounds at one of the party goers from their car, said Sgt. Douglas Bowler with LAPD Northeast Division.

The victim, a male in his late 30s, was struck in the leg.

The off-duty LAPD officer, whose name has yet to be released, was at the party when the shooting happened and fired several rounds in the direction of the suspects before they fled in an unknown direction, said Bowler.

The victim is undergoing surgery and is expected to be okay. Police cannot confirm if the shooting was gang related, but it is being looked at, said Bowler.

  1. Hi–the location was actually Division and Avenue 33, not on Cazador Drive or Cazador Street.

  2. Yup. Glassell Park isn’t gentrifying any time soon. It’s still the ghetto. Lol
