L.A. homelessness rises 20%; 13-year-old Boyle Heights girl goes missing

  • An annual homeless count conducted in January found 34,189 people living on the streets and in shelters in the City of Los Angeles. That’s up 20% from the year before. There were notable increases in the number of people living in vehicles and homeless veterans. The results are expected to be officially released later today, Wednesday, May 20. L.A. Times
  • The LAPD is asking the public to help find a 13-year-old Boyle Heights girl whose family says has been depressed and could be a danger to herself. Evelyn Morales was last seen on the morning of Tuesday, May 30 in the 200 block of N. Chicago Street. LAPD
