Surveillance video released as police seek suspect in Echo Park stabbing

ECHO PARK  — Police today released surveillance video of an attempted murder suspect who stabbed an Echo Park man several times after they got into an argument by a Sunset Boulevard taco truck earlier this month.

The 47-year-old victim survived the attack despite being stabbed multiple times during the early morning hours of May 2. The suspect is considered armed and dangerous.

Here’s a rundown of the events based on the most recent police information:

“On May 2, 2017, around 1:55 a.m., Rampart Area officers responded to an “ADW cutting”, located in the 1100 block of Echo Park Avenue in the rear alley. The suspect and victim were involved in a verbal argument as the victim was attempting to order food from a taco truck in the 1500 block of West Sunset Boulevard. The suspect armed himself with two knives and began punching and stabbing the victim. When the victim fell onto the ground, the suspect stood over him and continued to stab the victim multiple times. The suspect left through an alley south of Sunset Boulevard and west of Echo Park Avenue.”

Detectives with the LAPD Rampart Division are asking for the public to provide any information about the suspect. He is described as a male black or Latino with a full black beard, who stands 6 feet tall, weighs around 200 pounds is about 48-52 years old. He has a full black beard with gray whiskers on chin and was wearing a black baseball cap, blue or black “Planet Fitness” T-shirt, tan cargo shorts, and black shoes.
