Echo Park Lake lotus bed prepares for its annual summer show

Lotus Bed Cleaning | Robin Constable

ECHO PARK — The Echo Park Lake lotus bed was getting some TLC this week as workers were seen in the northwest corner of the lake. The Lotus Festival is a few weeks away on July 15 & 16 but it looks like some of the blooms can’t wait to show their stuff. Thanks to Robin Constable for the photo

  1. Will someone please cancel the park grass killing lotus festival? It’s nothing but a park destroying catastrophe. It’s a toxic event.

  2. …and a great EP tradition too!

  3. iheartechopark

What does it take to get maintenance on the park done. There is more graffiti and dead landscaping than ever. EPL is such a glorious amenity for EP and LA.. what is so difficult about basic maintenance.?

    • The Lotus Festival is a giant garbage truck of trash being dumped into the park, after a horde of grass killing boots turn the beautiful lawn into dust. It is an idiotic event and should be cancellled -forever.

  4. On a serious note. Randy MacDonald who was responsible for restocking the lotus in the lake four years ago has passed away in April from cancer.
So when you look at the blooms this year, think of him.
