LAPD gang unit arrests Highland Park suspect for gun possession

HIGHLAND PARK — One alleged gang member was arrested for gun possession early this morning after officers searched a house in the area of York Boulevard and Toledo Street  amid reports of street closures and other police activity.

Reports on Twitter indicated that police had closed streets as an LAPD helicopter hovered over the area at approximately 5:30 a.m.

The arrests were carried out by the Northeast Gang Unit, which has not released details. However, an officer in the LAPD Northeast Division station said the unit approached three gang members, and found the gun at one of their residences.
