Eastside Scene: Parking Lot Palm Tree, Dodger Stadium | Daveed Kapoor

Morning Report

  • The SWAT team was called out Friday night in Lincoln Heights after a suspect in an assault complaint ran into a residence at the 1900 block of Johnston Street. Police say the suspect was taken into custody. No one was hurt into the incident, and no weapon was brought in with the arrest.
  • Lance Thomas, a 25-year-old junior sous-chef at the Black Cat in Silver Lake, describes how his experience as a cook provided solace and strength after he and his family became homeless,  leaving them to sleep on the couches and floors of friends and relatives. “When you’re cooking, you don’t have time to think about how down in the dumps you are or what’s happening in your personal life, you just have to cook and make it all taste great — no matter what.” L.A.
