There are numerous hospitals in and near the Eastside. But only three of them — Keck Hospital of USC in Lincoln Heights and the Kaiser Permanente Medical Center and Children’s Hospital in East Hollywood –are among the top ranked hospitals in the state and the Los Angeles area, according to most recent Best Hospital survey issued by U.S. News & World Report.
USC has taken a beating recently in light of the scandal surrounding its former medical school dean. But Keck Hospital of USC, which is operated separately from the medical school, was ranked as the 5th best hospital in Los Angeles and the 10th best in the state. The hospital received the highest ratings when it came to treating five adult specialties.
Kaiser’s Los Angeles Medical Center on Sunset Boulevard was ranked the 11th best hospital in the Los Angeles area and #22 statewide. The facility earned the highest scores in for aortic valve surgery, heart failure treatment, heart bypass surgery and lung cancer surgery.
Down the block from the Kaiser medical center, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles was ranked No. 6 on the list of the nation’s 10 best children’s hospitals.
