Echo Park pedestrian hit and killed by fuel truck [updated]

Echo Park pedestrian killed by tanker truck at Alvarado and Temple streets

ECHO PARK –– A man was killed after being hit by a fuel truck early this morning near Alvarado and Temple streets, police said.

The collision took place shortly after midnight, said LAPD spokesman Drake Madison. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

CBS 2 reports that the male pedestrian was struck by the tanker truck as it exited the Arco gas station at the corner.

No further details were available at this time.

Update:  Police now say the victim, 55-year-old Theodore Ranger, was on his back under the truck when it pulled out of the station.
