The Sanchez family and their solar eclipse glasses at the Arroyo Seco library
HIGHLAND PARK — This morning’s solar eclipse drew a crowd to the entrance of the Arroyo Seco branch library, where solar shades were being handed out to eclipse watchers.
Entire families, including Chris and Elizabeth Sanchez and their four kids — Aurora, Elena, Esteban and Iris –from Highland Park, showed up.
So did Maggie Ryan and her mother, Dianne, from Montecito Heights. The mother-daughter eclipse watchers took selfies of themselves watching the sun and then sent the photos to family members across the country.
Library staff handed out 1,000 solar shades this morning before running out, said one staff member.
