EAST LOS ANGELES –– It’s not unusual to see classic cars parked on the streets of East L.A. But a classic helicopter?

C.J. Salgado, an aviation enthusiast and East L.A. resident, says a helicopter atop a trailer has been parked in the 5100 block of Via Corona for several days now.   He identified the aircraft as a 1950s era Bell helicopter model 47D1.

It could be used as a film prop given the “MASH US Army” painted on its side. But what it’s doing on an East L.A. Street is not clear, said Salgado.

“There is a body shop and a chrome shop nearby,” said Salgado, “so it may be getting some work done.”
